Live video image is wrong
Since Q4 2013 all live video is broadcast in HD, with the RX-8200 receiver responsible for down-converting to SD-SDI if required.
- SD-SDI - This will always output the RLS service as SD-SDI video.
- HD-SDI - All output of video will be a HD signal.
- Auto - This mode should be able to detect either an SD or a HD signal and adjust its video output accordingly. This option should not be selected since we only broadcast an HD signal.
- ASI - This option exists to allow a full transport stream to be output as an ASI feed to another downstream device.
By default, most broadcasters connect to the first BNC port on the rear of an RX8200. All outputs are concurrent, so it is perfectly fine to have Output-1 send SD-SDI to a wall monitor and Output-2 send HD-SDI to a recording device at the same time as Output-3 sends an ASI TS to another receiver a few floors away displaying output to a different team.
Troubleshooting the video output
If video output problems are present when viewed on a broadcast monitor, then the main area of configuration on the RX-8200 is under the Decode>Advanced tab.
Options defined within the Advanced Video settings will determine how video is displayed on a monitor.
- Our lives are transmitted as 16:9 material and therefore the Screen Aspect Ratio should ideally be set as such.
- Any customer still wanting a 4:3 Aspect Ratio should therefore define this parameter under this configuration.
- Reuters suggested Conversion parameter is to always select Center cut-out to maintain a sensible video display.
